I wrote this instead of sleeping. I don't know either. This is getting posted and I will probably never address it again if I don't delete it during my break tomorrow. I should not be given internet access past 11pm.

Perturabo

It pained me to put him all the way down (up?) here at the least moanable as I fear he may actually be one of my favourites, however... I am not delusional enough to ignore that not only is this a pretty long name, a good amount of people struggle not only to say it but to even spell it. Not at all dyslexia friendly. I would give it a good go but I feel like in order to enjoy yourself you kind of have to accept you will be calling him 'Perty' or 'Bo' or whatever you prefer.

Sanguinius

Sanguinius fans please spare me but this is a long ass name at 3? 4? syllables. I don't even know what you could call him for short instead. However, I don't doubt that it's entirely possible, I just think it would take a while to stop stuttering through.

Mortarion

Another long name. Are you sensing a pattern yet? I am. More moanable due to having less vowels than Sanguinius and less harsher (?) consonants like in Perturabo. Pretty middle of the road, easy to pronounce, could probably be easier if you just start calling him 'Morty' instead.

Alpharius / Omegon

Alpharius is again another longer name that I feel like I would trip over for a good couple weeks. I am NOT shorting it to Alpha. I must maintain my dignity, whatever crumbs of it remain. Omegon is an easier name - likely due to it having less syllables (3 rather than 4). However, I feel like the only way to shorten it would be 'Meg' and that would make me laugh and I would get distracted. Remember how I said this is subjective? This is why.

Jaghatai

3 syllables, easy enough to say, not a lot of vowels or harsher consonants to trip over. Incredibly doable, and I'm sure many have tried it. Hell, I'd certainly take a good stab at it.

Angron

Harsh G right in the middle, otherwise no complaints really. 2 syllables. Straight forward. You could certainly give it a good go.

Rogal

2 syllables - easy right? Wrong. Evil G right there in the middle again. Probably would have been higher (lower?) on the list if it was softened with maybe an H right after. Alas, it is not so.

Corvus

2 incredibly easy syllables. The V is a little evil (harsh) but with a relatively short name and a soft starting consonant I'm sure it's manageable. Best bird boy. Not much else to say.

Fulgrim

Although apparently a good chunk of people have given it a go - or at least his wives have - we're back to the G dilemma. Personally I'd suggest calling him 'Fulgie' - like Fergie but worse.

Konrad

Quite possibly the most normal name on the whole list. Konrad. Everyone can say Konrad. An easy two syllables with the harshest letter right at the start. Easy peasy.

Roboute

I actually don't know if this is 2 syllables or 3. I even went and looked on Reddit. Some people are saying Ro-Bou-Te, I've been reading it Ro-Boot. Either way these are easy, with the harshest sound being the T of all things. Either way I don't think moaning for poor long suffering Robert is too tricky.

Vulkan

Deceptively soft V and K. What a pleasant surprise. Anyone could moan this easily, and he'd probably be delighted.

Lion

Objectively this is incredibly easy, which is why it made it so high (low?) on the scale. However, I would argue moaning 'Lion' in full sincerity is somewhat hilarious. That sure is the name of an incredibly powerful (and unfortunately incredibly sexy) man.

Magnus

Easy to moan. Probably wouldn't mind if you gave it a go. Again, one of the easier names. I'm sure he'd be happy to tutor you on the subject.

Lorgar

Flows nicely, 2 short syllables, incredibly straight forward. Started mentally calling him 'Lorgie', never recovered.

Ferrus

Incredibly straight forward name. Ferrus, pronounced the same as Ferrous, like the iron tablets. Something something you should do it, it's medicinal.

Leman

Not at the top due to the time it took to decide whether it was Lee-man or Le-man (like lemon). Personal gripe, but if you've gotten this far down without understanding that I don't know what to tell you. Quick, easy, sure why not.

Horus

As much as I wish to be deeply spiteful and shove him somewhere unremarkable in the middle, I just can't do it. This is an easy name. Don't worry, if you struggle at all I'm sure he'd be willing to let you keep trying until you figure it out. Bastard.

Mikey Goes To Oz

<Time spent: 49 hours 17 minutes>

When Mikey takes some time away from a loud family squabble he accidentally ends up getting “flushed” down the sewers. This winds up sending him to the colorful land of Oz where he meets a good witch, a wicked witch, a brainless scarecrow, a heartless Tinman, a cowardess lion, and a powerful wizard, all disguised behind very familiar faces.

A canon adjacent spin off set before the season one finale but after they discover Splinter is Lou Jitsu

I wanted to fit each of the boys into their “you’ve had this all along” category. Leo isn’t brainless, in fact he’s pretty clever with a street smart, people reading ability on par with Donnie’s intelligence. Donnie isn’t heartless, he just has a tough time expressing his feelings. They are complex and unalgorithic but he can get just as excited or sad or angry as anyone, as much as he may deny it. Raph isn’t a coward, but being brave sometimes means admitting you’re scared and that you maybe don’t have all the answers. You dont have to be strong all the time and you don’t have to do it by yourself.

In the movie Dorothy’s journey home is also a representation of her running away. The important thing was to remember there were people who cared about her. Mikey is experiencing a similar phenomenon, wanting the escape the bad vibes in the lair. His “you’ve had it all along” is interesting because it is an object, since the Ruby kneepads could’ve taken him home the whole time. And sometimes getting home means going on a journey only to realize you never left.

I put April as Glinda because Glinda appears as a defender of the weak, and I see April in a similar light. Always willing to help and beat someone up if it is so required. Splinter as The Wizard of Oz represents Splinters own willingness to hide behind different personas, his running from the past and the pulling back of the curtain for Mikey in timeline. The Wizard grows through the movie, albeit quickly, and ends up leaving Oz to go home leaving his legacy with the scarecrow, the Tinman, and the lion. In this case the passing of the baton to his sons.

Meanwhile Draxum as the wicked witch felt much more how Mikey sees Draxum at this time in the show, mostly just an antagonistic force who wants something from them. Fun fact: I imagine throughout this dream, Draxum is uninterested in being the wicked witch but is pressed into it via plot. Hence his disinterest in being “melted.”

Additional characters not pictured: Big Mama as the Wicked Witch of the East (those were her Ruby kneepads!!) and Todd as the Mayor of Munchkin Land. If you can think of more, feel free to leave them in the comments or tags.

As far as depicting extinct species in a way that makes them distinct; I find restricting certain traits to only one species or the other helps. e.g: Ice Fangs will never have ear-tufts and Fleet Fangs always have them, Ice Fangs will always have exposed sabers and Fleet Fangs always have lip-pockets covering theirs (they have to be actively grimacing to show the whole fang).

Also look at the varied soft tissue of real life animals.

Fleet Fangs have lynx like ear tufts because they share a similar environment and are both long-limbed ice-cats. They also have a paler under-tail like deer, which I imagine is used for social signalling (Homotherium is hypothesised to be social irl too!)

I decided to give the Ice Fangs more bear like lips, which is loosely based on a (debunked) idea of them having huge jowls that enveloped the whole length of their sabers. This would make actually using the sabers too hard for me to think it's plausible, but a more mobile lip that can be moved out of the way when they go from full gape to rest is a fun concept :D

I also try not to draw any sabercats with pantherine noses. Pantherine rhinarium are quite distinct in their reduction of lower lobe (which I'm sure has a proper name but I Cannot find it and keep getting photos of nose jobs, so I'm giving up). This makes the whole nose into a defined T-shape, but there's no reason for any sabercat lineage to have that specific autapomorphy. So the Fleet Fangs get Jaguarundi/lynx inspired heart-shaped ones, and Ice Fangs have very wide noses like a stretched domestic cat c'x

lots of working on oc designs today! the wolves were proto-nick designs but as much as i liked the shapes for that i just was not vibing so i switched directions and made him a dog cuz i was feeling that way more. the tiger and lioness r the starter ideas for dominics partner/s. kinda digging the lioness but definitely early stages w that tiger, i like his shape but the stripes werent designed to be that replicable and im not there yet with the colors

KIROS ISN'T ALBINO☹️☹️☹️!!!!!!

theres a big difference between white lions and albino lions and kiros and his pride are white lions. i mean it would make significantly less sense if kiros and his pride were albino because thats just insane sniffles!! its a super rare genetic mutation and it would take a an insane amount of selective breeding for a while pride to have it... i used to have a fixation on lions and i am a bio geek so im very sorry about this rant‼️

they ARE both genetic mutations so it makes sense as to why people have this misconception but albinism is the inability to produce or distribute melanin, which is responsible for the pigmentation of the animal, so its nearly impossible for albino lions to have normal pigmented eyes and skin, like kiros and the outsiders have. kiros and the outsiders have blue, sometimes brown eyes while albino lions would have purple or redish tinted eyes!

kiros is featured with a black tipped tail, black skin (as seen on the nose and pads) and blue eyes showing that he does have pigmentation! his hunters follow this pattern too, minus the tail I believe.

so while albino lions lack melanin almost all together, white lions' melanin makes their pigmentation lighter! white lions are leucistic and that is a recessive trait. that means that the allele for this white colouring needs two recessive of the alleles for it for the trait to actually show up and this allele is super rare unfortunately.

here are some real life white lions!! most white lions don't even have white fur, a lot of the time its that really light yellow as shown in a couple pictures above!! but i believe about 13 are actually alive and well to this day:( thankfully there is an organization called the global white lion protection trust to help take care of them!
